Trapped Like A Dog In A Bathtub

Wait, what?

Yeah, I know, it doesn't have the same zing as trapped like rats, does it?

But that's what it's come to here at Casa de Cud. We have a water bowl for the dogs & cat, but of course they'd rather drink out of the toilet.

Except for Snoopy, the dachshund, who can't reach the water in the toilet. Instead, he likes to jump into the bathtub & lick around the drain. The faucet has a drip, so there's usually a little bit of water there.

Unfortunately for Snoopy, the drip has gotten worse.

You would think that would be a good thing. More drips mean more water for Snoopy.

No, that's not what it means.

What it means is, Snoopy jumps into the tub, licks up around the drain, but his paws get wet so he slips when he tries to jump back out of the tub.

Leaving a dog trapped in a bathtub.

The first time I heard Snoopy barking I thought the door had swung shut, trapping him in the bathroom. When I checked he was standing there wagging his tail like nothing was wrong.

"Finally, somebody's here to rescue me," he thought.

"You little shit, barking for no reason," I thought. I left and he started barking again, so I went back.

That was when I saw him trying and failing to get out of the tub. He tried to jump but his back legs slid and down he went. Then he tried again & it was like one of those cartoons where the Road Runner or Coyote is trying to run and his legs are going a mile a minute but he's just standing still.

So now every so often Snoopy summons me to come lift him out of the bathtub. I tried explaining to him that it would be easier for everybody (well, easier for me) if he'd just drink out of the water bowl, but apparently the water dripping onto the bathtub drain is more appetizing.

Who knew?
