The Cud Rises Again

Well, I'm back from hiatus. There was a lot of stuff to write about, but I just didn't feel like it.

I went from no job to one job, King Innovation, but that wasn't quite cutting it so I also started working at Daddy Ray's, affectionately known as the Cookie Factory in these parts. Daddy Ray's is the biggest manufacturer of Fig Newton-type cookies. Not just fig filled, but also apple, blueberry, and strawberry. Some are cut little for cookie nibbling, but some are cut longer for breakfast bar numming. In addition to that they also make all kinds of stuff, from ginger snaps to dog biscuits to graham cracker crumbs for pie crusts.

So I was working 36 hours at King and 24 hours at Daddy Ray's. On the bright side I had an entire day off every week. On the dark side I was working 60 hours every week. Thank God now I only work 40 hours a week, but not at King or Daddy Ray's.

Now I work at Serco.

Finally.

You see, since I was working my fingers to little bloody stumps Keith decided to see if he could go back to work. Apparently being disabled but having a bad-ass hard-working wife was bad for his man-cred. So when a lady from church who owns a security firm said she was hiring he jumped at the chance to let all that power go to his head. As it turns out, the first place they sent him to was the Serco office in Wentzville where I didn't get hired even tho they said I was.

Conditionally hired my ass.

Serco needed extra security because they were having a hiring fair. They were finally starting up a night shift. The planets must have been lined up just right because the very next day was my day off for the week. I went in bright and early with my conditionally hired paperwork from last time. If you want to know the truth, I didn't even really want to go. I wasn't that emotionally attached to Daddy Ray's, but I really liked working at King. Plus, working all those hours up on my feet moving around was paying off. I was getting in better shape, losing weight & feeling great.

Well, as great as you can feel when you're working 60 hours a week.

But I was definitely losing weight. My pants were all getting baggy & I was cinching up my belts tighter & tighter. I've only been working at Serco since October & I already feel like I'm plumping back up.

Which sucks because they have a dress code at Serco.

Which means I've been going shopping & buying new clothes. Sure, I've been shopping at Goodwill & Salvation Army, but still.

New clothes.

Me, clothes shopping.

Miracles do happen.
