Hissy Fit

Well, I was right. When we pulled the camper back home from Pecan Grove nobody was left behind. Sparkle fit right in.

Well, not really.

Mamma Kittie met him at the door and it was definitely not love at first sight. She wouldn't even let him in the door. We were going to try to let them get used to each other. Let New Kittie stay out in the parlor so they could sniff & snarl at each other through the door until we found somebody to take Mamma Kittie & the two babies. Somebody got a nice feline surprise for Mother's Day. I spent the day with my mom & Keith went to visit his mom & brought Mamma Kittie & the twins to give to somebody in the city. I don't know who was the lucky winner.

So now we're down to two cats & two dogs. Fat Boy has been banished to outside kittie status because he isn't fixed & has started spraying. It wasn't a problem as long as he kept it outside. I don't care if he sprays the bushes or a car tire or something, but when he sprayed inside that was a deal-breaker. We're talking about getting him neutered but I don't know if that would stop the spraying. He might just be an outside cat from now on, balls or no balls.

We're still not sure if Sparkles is a boy or girl. Keith thought he/she/it was a female from the way it yowls & complains, but now we think it might actually be a fixed boy that talks a lot because he's part Siamese. They are big talkers. His coloring & body shape isn't Siamese, but his face has that pointy Siamese-looking nose. Plus, when he drops ass in the litter pan it stinks up the whole house. Keith & Deana both insist lady cat's tootsie rolls don't smell that bad, but I'm not sure that's a scientifically proven fact. I thought the fact Fat Boy wanted to be extra friendly might be a clue, but sometimes animals are just extra friendly and/or sexually confused.

Another issue with Sparkles is his name. Nobody like it. Even I don't particularly like it. I just said I named him Sparkles as a joke. It would be easier to pick a name if we knew if he was a boy or girl cat, but there are plenty of gender neutral names to choose from.

Whatever his name is, he sure has made himself at home here at Casa de Cud. Since right now at least he's the only inside cat he pretty much rules the roost. I'm some kind of pet magnet, so I usually end up on the couch with Snoopy in my lap & Leeloo snuggled up next to me, then the cat jumps up & lays on top of both of them.

I don't know if the dogs love him, or if they're just afraid to complain. He has some pretty wicked claws & he's not afraid to use them. As far as I know, he hasn't intentionally shredded anybody, but he's one of those cats that like to stretch out & show off his pretty little Freddy Kruegers. Plus, sometimes he likes to get all up in your face & give you a friendly little sniff.

And then bite your nose.

Surprise!
