It Just Keeps Getting Better
Saturday I was in a car accident. It wasn't a bad accident. Just a fender bender. I'm all right. My husband is hurt pretty bad. He has a bad back, and this shook him up pretty hard. He is better today than he was yesterday, but I think he still needs to go see a doctor. We don't have any health insurance, thanks to my wonderful job. Luckily we have auto insurance. Of course, our car insurance won't cover our own injuries, but would help a total stranger if we ran into their car, so we have to deal with the other driver's insurance company. They won't do anything until they get the police report and decide if they really have to. So it might be a week or two until he can go to the doctor.
I was about to take him to the emergency room last night. He wasn't very bad right after the accident, but I think he was running on adrenaline. The later it got the worse he felt. By the time we were ready for bed he was having trouble walking, and even standing was hard on him. He was having trouble moving his legs, couldn't lift his feet, just shuffled around. He couldn't lift or carry anything that weighed more than about a pound. He kept saying he was okay, he didn't need any help, but he could barely make it down the hall. This morning he was better, but he couldn't even carry the coffee thermos in from the kitchen.
