Back In Time
I had the most wonderful time Saturday. My sister took me to a Renaissance Fair. It was the best ever. Not that I've been to many other Ren. Fairs. Actually, I don't think I ever went to one before yesterday, but that doesn't change the fact that this one was the best ever. The fair is going to be held every weekend for about a month, so I think I will go back. It was held in a city park, but it wasn't just a big open field. They set it up mostly in the woods, along paths that wound all around in big loops and dips. There were actual buildings, not just tents and booths. They had stages for demonstrations and skits. One was even built like a pirate ship.
The theme of the fair was Lyon, a French town in 1555, and there were people dressed up in period costumes all over the place. There were people who were supposed to be royalty, along with all the servants and lackeys that would be attending them. There were people who weren't even part of the fair dressed up in costumes, just out enjoying the day, pretending to be squires or knights or whatever caught their fancy. If I lived closer, I would volunteer there, or get a job working in one of the booths. It looked like it would be 100% more fun than my job now. Of course, it's only two days a week for a month or so, and I doubt if they pay any more than the jackpot I'm raking in now.
