Circulatory Problem

No, not me.

My car.

Keith hardly ever drives my car, but he did a week or so ago and asked me how long had it been making all that noise.

All what noise, I asked all innocent like.

Apparently it was making the kind of noise cars make when their water pumps are about to fall apart.

I hadn't noticed a thing. You see, my car's a sweet-running old Oldsmobile '98. It idles so smoothly the old man we bought it from couldn't tell if it was running or not, so he put some kind of loud muffler on to let him know when it's running. All I hear when I start it is the muffler.

It sounds like I'm ready for the Indy 500.

So, to make a long story short, we took it to visit the nice repair man Wednesday and he confirmed the diagnosis. Keith said he would have changed it himself, but to work on the water pump in my car you have to unhook the entire engine and hoist it up out of the car first.

Not going to happen.

The car could have gimped along with a noisy water pump for days or weeks or months, but there was no telling when it would just explode in a fiery wave of metal and antifreeze.

Well, okay, maybe it wouldn't have exploded, but you get the picture. I didn't want to get stranded on the side of the road after midnight on the way home from work in the middle of February. Luckily the mechanic was able to work on my car the next day so now I don't have to worry about that anymore.
