I Like Those Odds

Well, whoever's in charge of hiring at MTM let everybody down. Again. And by everybody I mean me. Yesterday I got one of those crappy, 'don't call us we'll call you' e-mails. I want to march into their office & tell them what a big mistake they made, but that might give them the impression I'm desperate for them to hire me.

I'm not. I applied there three times & all three times I ended up getting the same e-mail. At least the first time they actually gave me an in-person interview. The second time they didn't even give me a telephone interview. At least they called me this last time. Not that it did any good. They have decided to pursue other candidates at this time.

Which is okay by me because I've decided to pursue other candidates at this time, too.

I talked to the boss at work yesterday. Last time one other employee applied for the weekend shift, so I had a 50% chance of getting hired. Unfortunately, that also meant I had a 50% chance of not getting hired. We all know how that turned out. I was sure he was going to say somebody else applied. Somebody else who already works the weekend shift so my big selling points, experience working weekends & 12 hour shifts, would evaporate. This time, nobody else applied for the weekend shift. That means I have about a 100% chance of getting hired

Can't beat those odds.

And in more good news, last week I worked overtime Friday. This weekend I'm working overtime Friday again. And Saturday, too! So I'm going to get 20 hours of overtime.

Which is good because we have to pay for a new tire on the van.
