Well, if there was a war on Christmas, I think Christmas won.
At least it did here at Casa de Cud. Not only did we have a fine Christmas, I'm actually on vacation this week. I get three weeks of vacation, and 7 'personal days' that you can schedule for doctor's appointments or special days and not lose a day's pay. If you get sick & can't go to work you can ask to use one as a sick day but you don't always get paid. It depends on how busy they are & how many other people took off that day. It's a union thing.
About a week ago one of the ladies from scheduling told me I still had three days so she wanted to know if I was interested in taking some time off or just forget about them.
Big no brainer there.
We were closed for Christmas, & I was scheduled off Christmas Eve, so that just left three days, which, if you'll do the math, worked out perfectly for me.
So I'm off all week with pretty much nothing to do. We had my whole family over yesterday. The Man wanted to fix something special to celebrate the new house, but he can't just cook dinner, he creates masterpieces. He cooked prime rib, baked potatoes, & corn on the cob. Where the grocery store got corn on the cob in the middle of December is a mystery. Maybe Santa was involved, I don't know. All I know is it was delicious.
Tomorrow we're going to go to The Man's mom's house for Christmas. She's one of those people who already have everything they've ever wanted, so you're screwed trying to buy presents for them. We've got this sort of chair-ladder hybrid decorative thing with fake flowers going all up the back we're going to give her. Because when you're dealing with somebody who has everything they want the only thing to do is give them something they don't want..
