Completely Unscientific

I've been conducting a thorough study of woolly-bear caterpillars. Most of them have been really dark. That means we're going to have a long, cold winter. Supposedly. Of course, I'm only able to study the ones trying to cross the highway on my way to work. A very limited sample. I hope we have a nice warm winter because The Man's back is too bad to handle the wood stove this year, and I'm not home enough to keep a fire going, so we're going to bite the bullet and use the heater. I wouldn't mind keeping it chilly and bundling up, but I don't want to have to.
