Happy 4th Of July

There was a nice celebration here at Casa de Cud. We didn't buy any fireworks, but there's somebody in back of us that went completely apeshit. Last year they spent $5000, and I think this year they spent more. They had huge explosions, clustered together in continuous bursts. There must have been three or four people setting them off at the same time. It was real pretty, and there were amazing booms. It sounded like a war zone. I don't think I would have been any happier if we drove to the city and had to put up with traffic and crowds and $5 drinks. My only complaint was they couldn't wait to set them up, so they started as soon as it started getting dark. It would have been cooler if they'd waited, but I can understand not wanting to be setting off explosives in the dark.

Apparently, 11

You would not believe how many police work here in Winfield. Our neighbor told us there are 11 full time, regular officers. I'm not sure where he learned this little tidbit, but he seemed pretty sure about it. We couldn't believe it. I mean, there's only about 750 people in Winfield. How many police do we need? Apparently, we need 3 men on duty 24-7. And this isn't just because of the flood, either. This is our regular police force. I feel so much safer. I mean do we really need that many cops? For what? Especially with gas so high I don't think we need three cop cars constantly driving around. I'm willing to bet once the water goes down and it's back to business as usual they are going to be writing tickets out the ass. Don't say you weren't warned.
