Next Drink Race 2000 Coming Soon
Last night we watched a movie that I think would make a good sequel to the Drink Race 2000 party. Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter. It's the weirdest vampire movie because the vampires run around in the daylight. I don't think they could afford to film at night. We were trying to come up with rules if we wanted to turn it into a drinking game. I thought about drinking each time a vampire dies, but sometimes they die by the dozen. That's just how good JC is. On the other hand, he does have to get help from a masked wrestler before he saves the day. Then I thought maybe just drink any time somebody said his name. The Girl said you should just drink any time you think it's the gayest thing you've ever seen. That alone should get you shit faced.

Almost Half-time
I've been typing my fingers to the bones. I'm right at 21,000 now. I'm afraid I might run out of story before I hit 50,000, but I guess I can always add padding. Describe the clouds or what she has for breakfast or something. I can't just add a couple sex scenes since my main character is only 15. Now, back to typing.

Higher And Higher
I'm sure my loyal readers are asking themselves how I'm doing on NaNo. Well, worry no more. I am right at 15,000 words. I'm very pleased with myself. I just got to the big kiss when everybody finds out Laura's brother is gay. I don't think I ever mentioned in here that I'm setting the story in Sassafras. She's going to have a big crush on Bill, and her brother's boyfriend is going to be one of his friends, the oldest Kennedy boy. Joan and Rick and some other people from Sassafras are going to have small parts. I just can't decide what to do with her mom's boyfriend. Is he a big pig, or just a nice guy going through a mid life crises that makes some stupid decisions? So far he's nicer than I wanted him to be.

If I Won
Every now and then I entertain myself by imagining what I would do if I won a big lottery jackpot. So not going to happen because I only play about once a year. Usually, I try to be realistic. I mean, it's a fantasy, but there are limits. I've finally decided on my ultimate fantasy. I want to grow a tree park. I'm sure there's some fancy Latin term for what I'm talking about, but I don't know what it is.
What I want to do is buy a great big farm somewhere and plant hundreds of trees on it. All kinds of trees. Individually and in little clusters, maybe some more formal shaded walkway type plantings. Maybe have a lake surrounded by cherry trees. Then people could use it like a regular park, having picnics and playing horseshoes, plus they could see what all kinds of trees look like when they're mature, not just a couple of twigs in a home improvement warehouse or a picture in a catalog. I know it might be 50 or 100 years before some of the trees really mature. If I won the lottery I could afford to do nothing except sit around and watch trees grow.

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
I've been hard at work, writing my NaNo novel. I got all the way up to 8,100 words, then decided to chop a bunch at the end and change things around. I was back down to 6,300 words, but now I'm back to 7,400 words. Considering I was hoping to write at least 2,000 words a day and it's the 6th already, I'm way behind. I am going to have to plant my ass on the couch and get typing.

Tulips
Today was a beautiful day. A perfect vacation day. I took advantage of the weather and planted some tulips and daffodils. I wanted to do a whole elaborate overhaul. Dig this up, plant it there, cover that with something. It would have taken all day, and I didn't remember about wanting to work in the flower bed until Mary came by around 3 and said what a nice day it was, so we went for Plan B. The Girl and I pulled some weeds from the big flower bed, then fluffed up the dirt in the little flower bed, stuck in the bulbs and covered the whole thing with a big bag of topsoil. Tomorrow, I'm going to take some of the ground cover in the big flower bed and put it in the small flower bed. That nice rich topsoil is just asking to get loaded with weeds if I don't do something with it, and I really like this ground cover. I don't remember what the actual plant's name is, but the variety is called Goldilocks. It's really nice low-growing plant with little round leaves that look like the whole place is covered with coins. Next year, the garden and the flower beds are all getting an overhaul. I'm going to buy more flowers, and good dirt, and mulch, and all kinds of crap. The seed catalogs are already on their way.

Let The Fun Begin
Yeah Vacation! I made sure and had one of my vacation weeks scheduled for November. For ease of NaNoing. If I had any sense I would have scheduled both weeks in November, but I think The Man and The Girl would have a problem with that. They don't mind one week, but I think two would be pushing it. I don't have anything planned except typing day and night. The Man is convinced I could write all 50,000 words on my vacation if I really tried, but I think that would probably drive me insane. I would rather pace myself than end up with bloody stumps where my fingers belong.

Aaaaaaaand They're Off!
Well, NaNoWriMo is officially here. I was off today, so I spent all day playing on the computer. I wrote 4,000 words. A good, solid start. I like my story so far, but I can't come up with a good title. So far I'm just calling it Laura because that's the main character's name, but I want to come up with something better. Something catchy. Of course, simplicity is a good thing. I could just stick with Laura.
